The store will have a collection of renowned fashion brands like Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne, said Mark Zuckerberg in a live stream video with Instagram’s head of fashion. A Meta spokesperson also confirmed that the outfits would be priced between $2.99 and $8.99 only. These prices are much less than the original outfit prices by the designers.
Idea behind the online clothing store for avatars
As per Zuckerberg, the latest clothing options will give consumers an opportunity to express themselves using their avatars. He wished to build the digital clothing store out into an open marketplace where developers could make and sell a wide range of virtual clothes. Also, the company is going to start the sale of virtual clothes this week itself. This idea of launching an online clothing store and enhancing avatars, is an ongoing effort to create the “Metaverse.” During the last month, Meta also rolled out updated 3D avatars for Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram in India. The update came up with various new skin tones, accessibility equipment, and new faces.
