Apple iPad Mini 2 Vs Google Nexus 7.2 Vs Microsoft Surface Pro 2 HEAD TO HEAD:#
Design:
iPad mini 2: 200×134.7×7.5mm
Google Nexus 7.2: 201x114x8.65mm
Microsoft Surface Pro 2: 274×172×13.2 mm
Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is the thickest of the three. Google Nexus 7 2 is the lightest, weighing 290g, followed by iPad Mini 2 at 331g. Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is heavy for a tablet, at almost 900g weight. There is hardly any differences between Nexus 7 2 and iPad mini 2 as far as the measurements are concerned. Both are light weight, handbag friendly and compact in size.
Display: Apple has deliberately worked out the issue of a relatively poor screen performance of the previous iPad mini tablet. The retina display in the second generation iPad mini surely attracts many users. The resolution is 1536X2048 pixels, with 324 pixel per inch density.
Nexus 7 2 has a screen resolution of 1200X1920 with pixel density of 331 ppi. Microsoft Surface Pro 2 with a resolution of 1080X1920 and pixel density 207 ppi is no match for the Google and Apple tablets. Out of Nexus 7 2 and iPad mini 2, as far as display is concerned, the latter has a bigger screen and a better resolution. However, the difference isn’t much.
OS and Processor: The iPad mini 2 undoubtedly wins here. With A7 64-bit processor, coupled with M7 coprocessor that improves device performance, this light device definitely packs a punch. Google Nexus 2 offers great performance too with quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 pro processor. The Microsoft tablet runs on Intel 4th generation Core i5-4200U.
iPad mini 2 is powered by the brand new iOS 7, Google Nexus 7 2 by Android 4.3 Jellybean, Microsoft Surface Pro 2 by Windows 8.1 Pro.
Battery life wise, iPad mini 2 promises 10 hours of battery performance, compared to approx 8 hours performance of Nexus 7 2 battery and 7 hours of Microsoft Pro Surface 2.
